Frank Lucas leads the Conservation, Research, and Biotechnology Subcommittee, Rep. Stephanie Bice serves as Vice Chair of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Subcommittee, Rep. Josh Brecheen chairs the Oversight, Investigations, and Accountability Subcommittee, and Rep. Kevin Hern holds the position of Republican Policy Committee Chair. In the Senate, Sen. Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking his second, non-consecutive term. He reiterated his “America First” agenda during his speech, emphasizing national strength and economic independence. Following the ceremony, he promptly signed several executive orders aimed at reversing policies from the previous administration, including withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization and dismantling federal diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Oklahoma lawmakers have introduced numerous income tax proposals for the 2025 legislative session. Senate Bill 1 suggests a 0.25% individual income tax reduction, contingent upon a $400 million annual revenue increase. House Bill 2950 proposes establishing a flat tax rate of 4.75% for incomes above $13,550 for single filers and $27,100 for married filers, with plans to incrementally decrease the rate by 0.25% annually if state revenues grow by at least $400 million. These initiatives reflect ongoing debates among state leaders about the feasibility and impact of tax cuts on Oklahoma’s fiscal health.
