This weekend marked a heartbreaking moment for Minnesota and for our democracy. The murder of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, is devastating for all of us. Her leadership, integrity and dedication to her constituents will be remembered. Our thoughts are also with Senator Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. We are praying for their recovery, as well as for their family and community.
Public service is a high calling, and both Sen. Hoffman and Rep. Hortman selflessly dedicated their time and leadership in the service of Minnesota. This political violence is a tragedy, and NASL joins with Minnesotans and leaders across the nation in grieving.
