Gov. Kevin Stitt and Arnold Ventures announced a $10 million matching initiative to support programs benefiting Oklahoma children. The investment will fund initiatives like high-dosage tutoring, community college success programs, and foster care improvements while supporting the Be a Neighbor initiative. Laura and John Arnold emphasized their commitment to evidence-based policies that create real, measurable success for Oklahomans.
Former President Bill Clinton will serve as the keynote speaker at the 30th Remembrance Ceremony of the Oklahoma City bombing, honoring the 168 lives lost. Clinton, who was president at the time of the 1995 attack, last attended the 20th anniversary ceremony. The event will provide a time of remembrance and education, reflecting on the lasting impact of the tragedy.
Gov. Kevin Stitt appointed Tracy Poole to the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents, replacing Trudy Milner, who resigned before her term expired. If confirmed by the Oklahoma Senate, Poole’s appointment would mean Stitt has selected every current board member. A graduate of OSU and founder of FortySix Venture Capital, Poole brings experience in entrepreneurship, energy, and law to the role.
Oklahoma Forestry Service Director Mark Goeller has been fired over the agency’s response to this month’s wildfires, Gov. Kevin Stitt announced Wednesday. Stitt cited concerns about the department’s handling of the fires, which have spread across the state. The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry confirmed that Goeller is resigning and will depart on March 31.
Legislative Recap
Following last week’s deadline, 224 bills failed to advance, leaving just under 800 still active. The Senate allowed 185 bills and one SJR to go dormant without a floor hearing, while the House considered all but 40 of its bills. As we move into the second half, there are now just over 300 Senate bills, approximately 470 House bills, and a single HJR remaining.
